Wrc 8 too difficult1/28/2024 Grönholm’s steed today is still a Peugeot though, albeit one with a different number, and one displaying yet another new concept when it comes to four-wheel drive rally cars in the WRC. Capito!’ snarled Marcus Grönholm when asked whether he thought he might have won this year’s Swedish Rally driving one. A truly unique World Rally Car for its time – and since then just the, 2003-launched, Skoda Fabia WRC has taken up this 2500-off extended length option and the likelihood is that the Czech car will be the last to do so.īut the 206, as a frontline works entry, is no longer with us. Peugeot Sport got it approved though, gaining an FIA dispensation to produce 2500 206s – the ‘GT’ version, with bigger front and rear bumpers which extended its length to 4005mm (158in). Peugeot marketing demanded that the 206 became a rally car to compete at the highest level, but the model was not eligible for that category because it was shorter than the minimum 4000mm (157in) length required for World Rally Cars. The commercial ploy of selecting a suitable base model and creating an exciting and unique competition version makes proven sound financial sense. The 206 WRC then won three consecutive World Rally Championships. When, 15 years later, Peugeot returned to the World Rally Championship, again at the Tour de Corse, it was also with a new concept of turbocharged four-wheel drive rally car based on a new hatchback model, the 206. And few will argue that the 205 T16 was not a very exciting rally car, and the first of a new breed. In marketing terms, the synergy between a road model and an exciting rally-destined derivative was there to be milked. This lesson was not lost on Peugeot management. The T16 then grabbed two consecutive World Rally Championship crowns. The public’s heart was captured: road car sales increased even further, and Peugeot’s image was improved immeasurably. Three months later the T16 led the Tour de Corse on its debut WRC rally. This unprecedented marketing manoeuvre focussed public awareness on the sporting character of the new hatchback, undoubtedly enhancing 205 sales… And thus revitalising the French firm’s then lacklustre image. That day the two-wheel-drive road version of the 205 was unveiled to the public, while, and importantly, at the same time the four-wheel drive 205 Turbo 16 Group B rally car was also launched. The transformation in the fortunes of Automobiles Peugeot began on 23 February 1983. Or an epic like El Chocolate and a long standard stage with it.Under the skin of Peugeot’s WRC challenger, now in the hands of privateers Only times I couldn't use softs were if I had 2 Epic Stages back to back. I recommend the wear as soft tyres are far superior in grip so if you can make them last it will greatly improve your performance. Both power and aero departments have tyre wear and grip improvements to help you if needed. Other than that R&D will help a lot on grip. Totally dependent on how good you can consistently turn in tiny movements smoothly. But you may wish to turn it up if you are more used to Forza or NFS etc. I use controller and as its a nice newish one the analogue stick is firm enough to control in tiny changes so I turned dead zone off completely and find turning in those slight crevice areas much easier now. Also worth checking the dead zone on steering. I didn't get on with the Citroen as I struggled to get a good feel for it plus it seems to be much wider so I was just clumsy with it lol!Īnother thing I found was assists actually made things worse! I struggled so much before then played with the settings and as soon as I switched off the traction and brake assist I was golden! It may sound crazy but I found I had far better control of the car without those assists. The Yaris is very hard to handle on gravel for instance. On PS4 I found the Fiesta overall easiest, i20 and Yaris are stronger in their specialist zones but are super weak in others. You'll get more used to say career mode if you stay with only that mode. So its more about what your favourite type is and commit to that. I first started practicing in quick rally but there it is totally different from career mode too. Its heightened still by the R&D which you can change for 10k credits. Like the Fiesta is strong on gravel and the i20 is strong on asphalt. Yeah I struggled to find the perfect team but you'll find set teams have set strengths.
